It's a lovely life in Denton!

It has been a fun-filled, debate-filled two days in the lovely state of Texas. Yesterday it may have been hot in Denton, but the Alston/Mullins lab got to know one another with some fun little ice breakers. It's always hard meeting new people, so we started our very first lab with a fun game of "Two truths and a lie." Before lab, the students enjoyed some fine dined pizza and mingling time, while being taught the rules and regulations of camp. We then had the students set some personal goals – both debate and nondebate related for their time at camp. We think the goals are very reachable given the quality of the students in lab! It looks like our lab will be very successful because it is definitely a hard-working group!
Today we continued lab with intense discussions, some photos for our ID's and an evaluation of last nights reading. There were many very good questions brought up by the lab as a whole, mainly focusing on how the words in the resolution interact. Sarah molded lab leaders Liz and Alston to form the team group "Lion," with the chant "ROAR." After some fine Bruce Hall chicken fried steak, the students got a special treat to a very informative topic analysis by some high quality professionals in the fields of both economics and trade. The day was ended with a very interesting round between the two and only Liz Mullins and Shane O'Neal. The AM lab cheered loudly for their leader, with accompanying sides!
